Hi! I’m Dr.Betsy Jones.

I am the owner and founder of Honey & Fig Counseling and Wellness and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I truly love the work that I do and am honored and privileged that you are considering allowing me to be a part of your journey!

Koda

Hi! I received my national certification as a therapy animal in 2018 through Pet Partners and have loved working with all of my two-legged friends ever since. If you want to work with me, I accept payment in the form of peanut butter, belly rubs, or comfortable napping space. I’m very good at listening without interrupting or giving advice, being a calming presence, and some say I help them stay grounded when talking through difficult experiences. I cannot wait to meet you! I’m sure we are going to be fast friends!

My Focus

My focus is adults with a wide range of concerns such as trauma, difficulty in relationships, depression, anxiety, self-image, and many more. I have worked with clients ages 15 to 65, but my specialty is helping young adults who have experienced abuse, including but not limited to sexual abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and childhood trauma.

My Credentials

I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Texas A&M University Commerce, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Baptist University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health from Arizona Christian University, with a minor in Biblical Studies. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, which helps clients to process traumatic events in their lives more effectively. I have experience working with clients in non-profit, private practice, and inpatient psychiatric hospital settings.

My Technique

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is most essential, so I work to tailor my techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual client. I often take a multifaceted approach, using techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, person centered therapy, animal-assisted therapy, as well as others that may fit the client’s needs.

About Me

I am a native Houstonian with an overwhelming affinity for chapstick and true crime shows. In my free time, I love to country dance, work out at my local CrossFit gym, play sand volleyball, or go on walks with my sweet rescue pup (and coworker!) Koda.
